Mark and I have started a blog, The Resolute, where we have a bit of fun looking at some (sometimes) serious issues.

The Resolute

The Resolute is part Chaser, part Chrsitian theology 1-0-1, we will provide you with up to the week commentary on all that is happening in the world. Almost. The Resolute is about sarcasm, life and Chistianity. We’ll be blogging about what we feel is important, but having a bit of fun as we do it.

Have a read, let us know what you think.

We gave the St Andrew’s Church Website a bit of an update that was a little more than cosmetic.

The most obvious change is the new template. A lot more happened than the graphics changes…

The old all-in-one menu has been replaced with 4 site sections on the main menu. Latest news, events and sermons are also on the home pages as teasers. And there’s the gimmicky slideshow.

St Andrew's Home Page

Under the hood there are some more major changes.

Joomla! has given way to the much simpler, yet completely effective, Wordpress.

Sermon downloads come from the excelant Sermon Browser plugin. A complete events calendar is using Google Calendars. Easy and works.

Any comments???

Fervr started accepting registrations last monday. This means that any youth leader can easily take their youth group online, stay in touch with the youth in their group and grow the youth in their group.

This summer Fervr will be used by Crusaders, Youthworks and Presbyterian Youth camps to keep leaders and kids in contact with each other and to continue learning beyond camp.

Churches have also started groups on Fervr, check out St Andy’s youth site.

What is Fervr? Check out goFervr.net. It’s what I’ve been working on for the last year at Youthworks.

Mark Driscoll from Mars Hill Church has released a free book “Porn Again Christian” (pdf). It describes porn as ‘drinking a tall glass of toilet water’. Definately worth a read.

Dave Mires has published the audio from the On the Net workshop that we ran at the Youthworks Youth Ministry Conference on 24 November 2008.

Here’s a bit of an overview of what we discussed:

  1. Does God hate the internet? (No, unless its used badly)
  2. It it worth it? (Using the internet for ministry…)
  3. What are the dangers? (Porn, predators, privacy, protection, procrastination, but also can promote Jesus and your group)
  4. How do I do it? (MySpace, Facebook, Wordpress and Fervr)
1 May 2008

It started as monohorn.com… a long long time ago. It’s been through Wordpress, Mambo, Joomla!, Blogger and now back to Wordpress. It’s been hosted at WebSity, Blogspot and NearlyFreeSpeech. Now its called guscameron.com.

Why the name change? I grew up and monohorn.com didn’t… guscameron.com is a little more descriptive.

What’s the point? Thought it’d be a good place to put stuff instead of the current random mix of Blogger, Flickr, Picasa and Facebook.

We’ll see how it goes.
